Launched in 2012, the SMART programme begins with a Foundation Course, which trains youth in:

  • Spoken English
  • Basic IT and Computers
  • Workplace Readiness – soft skills

There are ten trades of study offered under SMART programme during the specialising stage:

  • Customer Relationships and Sales (CRS)
  • Hospitality
  • IT-Enabled Services (ITES) / Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)
  • Lab Assistant
  • Multimedia
  • Nurse Aides
  • Office Administration
  • Pharmacy Assistant
  • Quick Service Restaurants (QSR)
  • Tally

In 2015-16, the Foundation ran 65 SMART centers at 10 locations. During the current year, the Foundation has expanded the SMART portfolio to 80 centers in eleven cities – Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Visakhapatnam.

There are over 17,500 beneficiaries of the SMART programme.
